For India to have a true powerhouse economy with sustainable 8% - 10% annual economic growth, it needs to be a global leader in innovation. This requires a commitment to world class research across a variety of industry segments.

Wadhwani Research Centre in Biosciences
and Biotechnology (WRCBB)

The Wadhwani Foundation in 2009 launched an initiative to help accelerate world class research in India, with a $5 million commitment to IIT Bombay to establish the Wadhwani Foundation Research Center in Biosciences and Biotechnology (WRCBB).

This initiative is growing rapidly to its target of 25-30 world-class faculty and 100-150 post-graduate students engaged in leading edge research, supported by an international advisory board of well known scientists.

The intent is to catalyse additional centers of innovation across a variety of sectors in partnership with existing research institutes, government and Industry.
